Making The Move To Online Promotions! (Part II) "Off-Topic" PREselling! I want to apologize ahead of time for sounding a bit abrupt, but the success of your 5 Pillar Business depends on some straight talk... Get real! Your promotional strategies *must* be in sync with your Web site's theme and the needs of your target group. It makes no sense whatsoever to build a huge PREselling campaign about Site Build It! (no matter how passionate you feel about it) for a largely UNTARGETED audience. And that brings us to a key learning point for today... Everything you do must be relative to *your* reality... and the NEEDS and WANTS of *your* constituency. So unless your Web site is focused entirely on "Net Marketing," the 5 Pillar Program should only comprise a *small* part of your business. Otherwise, your efforts (as intensive and well-meaning as they may well be) will yield limited results. Why is that? Simple... you are not in sync with your target group. Always keep in mind... your visitors' primary motivation is to find quality information about a particular topic -- your Web site's focus. The majority of your time and energy, as a result, must be directed at creating a site that your visitors will consider as an OUSTANDING SOLUTION -- a credible source of beneficial knowledge and solutions. These "solutions" could be your own related products or services, or the related offerings of merchants that you represent. All other not-related-to-your-theme PREselling efforts are secondary in importance. To be successful, the needs of your target group have to be your #1 priority. As much as I'm flattered that so many of our 5P Affiliates dedicate a large portion of their online strategy to PREselling SiteSell and its products, my priority is that YOU are successful with your main business (i.e., the theme of your site), first and foremost. -----SIDEBAR----- A few issues back, I emphasized the importance of using SBI!... http://buildit.sitesell.com/ ... to build a successful online business based on a topic/theme that you are passionate about. At that time, I advised you (and I continue to do so) not to focus on Net Marketing -- it's a field that is already extremely overcrowded. Instead, PLEASE... focus on something you already know and love (which will make business-building seem more like fun rather than work). Make SiteSell's 5 Pillar Affiliate Program a small part of your overall revenue-generating strategy! -----SIDEBAR----- OK, with that fundamental advice firmly planted, what's the best way to introduce Site Build It! in a "secondary" role on a site that focuses on an "off-topic-for-SBI!" theme? (i.e., a non-Web-marketing theme like flower gardening, water color painting, R/C jets, motorcycling, etc., etc.)? For example, a visitor who is doing a keyword search for "orchid breeding" is not "pre-qualified" as being interested in Site Build It! when she lands on your site. She is looking for orchid info. A business-building system is not even on her radar screen. But that's not to say that she is not "interested" or that she doesn't need a business-building system. After all, EVERYONE knows about the potential of e-commerce. SBI! might be exactly suited for this visitor. She just doesn't know it yet. You somehow have to quietly flag these "qualified" visitors as they navigate through your site and, at the same time, not hinder those visitors who are only interested in orchids and the information/solutions that you are offering which pertain to orchids. How do you do it? Once again, the best starting point is your visitor... What can you safely assume about your visitor? o She is interested (perhaps even passionately!) in the topic/theme that your site addresses. After all, she's here as a result of a targeted keyword search from an SE. o She could probably use some additional income -- almost everybody can, right? By highlighting what you can safely "assume" about your visitor, you can craft an "offer" that appeals directly to him or her. Let's continue with our example... your SBI! site, www.orchid-breeding-best-tips-and-sources.com. That's about as far from Net marketing as you can get, right? How do you effectively PREsell SBI! to this type of audience? Easy. And smooooooothly. Smoothly integrate a specific text link within the context of your gardening-focused articles. Perhaps, for example, you are writing about the "do's and don'ts" of spring planting. The flow of the your article lends itself (you lead it that way!) so that you can insert the following... ---------------------------------------------- First-time gardeners are constantly on the watch for good advice. Are you passionate about flower gardening? Do you have experience to share? Products or services to sell? Provide sought-after guidance and earn income. Click here to learn how I bloomed my own passion for orchids into a $2,000 per month part-time hobby! ---------------------------------------------- This link does not go to the SBI! home page, but to a page where you PREsell SBI!. There you introduce your visitor to the wonderful business-building opportunity that SBI! offers -- an affordable technology-free way to get a site up and running where she can focus on sharing HER particular gardening theme and HER own income-producing solutions. You simply match SBI! features to the *theme-specific* needs of your "new-on-the-block" Netrepreneur. Then refer her (through your RR URL) to... http://buildit.sitesell.com/ See how the visitors to this page would be inherently qualified as ideal SBI! clients? Only the ones who are interested click on the link. Everyone else carries on, business as usual. And you do *not* compromise your ability to earn revenue from your other source(s) of income. Best of all, this strategy works for *any* topic/theme. Motorcycles even? Sure... --------------------------------------------- Live to ride, ride to live? What do you do in the winter? If you enjoy this site and want to share your own passion for all things two-wheeled (or have related products or services to sell), I can't speak highly enough about how I converted my 2-wheeled passion into cash. Click here for details. --------------------------------------------- -----SIDEBAR----- I recommend you concentrate on PREselling SBI! -- it's the perfect product that facilitates an easy correlation between interest and passion (as it pertains to your unique topic) with income. And that's always a great match! -----SIDEBAR----- This PREselling strategy is very straightforward, and so is your two-part Action Step for today... 1) Look carefully at your Web site. Is your secondary focus (i.e. Site Build It!) properly positioned to flag "qualified visitors" and lead them to your SBI! PREselling page -- without detracting from the primary information that your visitors were seeking/wanting in the first place? 2) Take some time to "peg" or profile your visitor (as we did previously). What can you assume are his or her needs/desires? How can you appeal to those needs when introducing Site Build It!? Remember, on the Web (or anywhere else for that matter) you can never be ALL things to ALL people. Let me repeat that... You cannot be ALL things to ALL people. --------------------------------------------- Stick to a single theme that you know and love. Focus most of your energy on becoming the "expert" in that field -- *THE* source of credible helpful information for visitors. Then... Smoothly lead your visitors to Site Build It! by tying SBI!'s benefits to the needs and desires of your unique audience within the *CONTEXT* of your theme-focused articles. --------------------------------------------- Take-home lesson? As far as your visitor is concerned... Passion + Income = Interest For you, the equation continues... Interest = Revenue (SBI! commissions, and through whatever service, product and other affiliate sales you generate through SBI!). :-) -- See you next week!
